Tooth extraction is performed by a dentist or oral surgeon and is a relatively quick outpatient procedure using local, general, intravenous anesthesia, or a combination thereof. Removing a visible tooth is simply an extraction. Cracked, subsurface, or impacted teeth require more intensive intervention.
